Watch Company Ltd.
low production, Short lived Lancashire Watch Company was located in
Prescot England. The firm attempted to produce watches that would
"compete" with the watch companies from America. Lancashire only
produced watches "full-time" for less than 17 years before falling in to
receivership and then finally closing their doors 2 years latter circa
16 Size (50.60mm) nickel
case with fancy engraved case edge and both bezels. The case back still
has nearly 100% of its original soft satin circular sand marks and a
hand engraved scene early Wrestling scene.
This watch that we
are offering for sale to the left is obviously a VERY low
production, Private Label "contracted" movement for the extremely short
lived Lancashire Watch Company of Prescot England and is therefore
an "English Elgin".
Original Gold Gilt,
plate, Factory signed "Lancashire Watch Co Ltd Prescot England", 7 Jewel,
stem wind, stem set, movement.
This movement is obviously supplied by
Elgin, and is a Model 7 Grade 157 movement. Look at the image (at right)
of the movement of the watch we are selling and compare it to the Elgin
signed & hallmarked movement in the picture directly below. It is the same movement!!
